| The price needs to be right! Prices are going up and up every day at the supermarket. There are a few things you can do to help get the most out of your money. First of all you have to be flexible when you go to the supermarket, don't plan meals then go, go then plan meals. Start with the meat section, look for sale items and the all mighty buy one get one free. You can often find good prices on pork loin or whole chickens and ground beef. Once you have found the meat that fits your budget then you can look for the items that would go with it. Also don't be afraid to take advantage of a good deal, stock up, most meats freeze well, the secret is to freeze meat individually and only keep it frozen for a month or two so it doesn't get freezer burnt. The last thing is, don't be afraid to walk away. If your recipe calls for bell peppers and bell peppers are $2 each, walk away, go with a fresh tomato instead or maybe some mushrooms, never feel you have to have something for a recipe if it's too expensive. |
